Across several themed spaces, visitors can explore how Apple has transformed the way we communicate, work, create and live. The museum offers insight into Apple’s development, from the garage of Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak to milestones such as the Apple I, Apple II, Apple Lisa, and more recent innovations like the iPod, iPhone and iPad. The collection of the new museum includes nearly all Apple products, from 1976 to the present day.
A museum dedicated to innovation
Visitors experience how a computer project evolved into a company that helped shape the modern world. “Apple has played a very important role in the lives of millions of people worldwide for fifty years,” says initiator Ed Bindels. “Together with a group of volunteers, I have spent years collecting and restoring devices, accessories, prototypes, manuals and brand materials. Apple has had such a significant impact on the world. We want visitors to see and experience that.”
With the museum, Bindels aims not only to tell the history of Apple, but also the stories of the people behind it. “For example, there is a space that shows what happened after Steve Jobs left Apple and the company went through a difficult period. Visitors then walk through a ‘Think Different’ corridor into a circular room filled with colorful iMacs. This room symbolizes the beginning of a new chapter for Apple. Throughout the museum, we tell different stories through the products.”
Some of the objects have been restored in recent years and can be used by visitors. Bindels: “The museum is more than a collection of devices. It is a tribute to creativity, resilience and the belief that technology can change our lives. It is a museum for everyone.”
